We run weekly meetings In Taunton, where we provide support for adults experiencing mental distress or simply want social support and would like to meet new people.
Our meetings are there to provide you with:
- Encouragement from a group of people who can share their insights and experience and who understand what you are going through
- Support at a time when your belief in yourself and ability to cope with life may be at a low ebb
- Information & Signposting Group facilitators have knowledge of other projects run by Mind in Taunton & West Somerset and other local organisations which you might find useful
As we as individuals are unique, so are our groups. They all run in slightly different ways. Please take a look at our Find a Support Group page for a further explanation of what you can expect from each individual group. If you are not comfortable with participating or talking in front of the group, then you are welcome to just come along and observe how the meetings work.

Which group should I attend?
You can attend any of our meetings that is convenient for you. Meetings take place in various locations across Taunton & West Somerset. You can attend more than one meeting a week if you feel this would be helpful.
How regularly will I need to attend?
You are free to attend our meetings as often as you feel you would like to. There are no rules stipulating how often you need to attend. Some people come every week to our meetings, some every two weeks, and others may come monthly.
You are able to use the support network for as long as you’d like to. Some people attend our meetings for many years, others will use the support network for just a few weeks or months, and then move on when they feel that they have benefitted fully from it. Many people use the support network to either maintain their mental health or to improve it whilst having a dip in their mental wellbeing.
What can I expect from a meeting?
Our meetings are relaxed and create a comfortable space where people suffering from mental illness can come and talk to others who share similar problems.
