The classic board game MONOPOLY has been a staple of the nation’s game cupboards since 1933 and has been entertaining families for generations.
Today hundred’s, if not thousands, of variations of the game exist featuring themes ranging from Star Wars to The Walking Dead.
What has excited us, however, in the Mind in Taunton & West Somerset offices is the release of a brand new Taunton edition featuring our very own mental health Charity.
All the landmarks of our county town are present on the edtion , including the Brewhouse, Musgrove Park Hospital and Somerset Cricket Club.
Mind in Taunton & West Somerset have the distinction of holding the Community Chest spot holding 16 cards of occasional good fortune.
Our C.E.O Andy Pritchard was quoted as saying: “2017 has been an amazing year for us at Mind in Taunton & West Somerset. We’ve launched 2 new projects – A young person’s advocacy project, called ‘Bridging the Gap for young people’ ,and a national Transgender helpline, Mindline Trans+, which we run alongside Bristol Mind and now we get to be featured on the brand new Taunton edition of MONOPOLY alongside other fantastic community organisations.
He went on to say: “Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year and 1 in 5 people will have suicidal thoughts. People shouldn’t have to face those issues alone and having our origination featured on the board allows us to reach those people and say we’re here to support you.”
The game which had its official launch on the 19th October is being described as a ‘love letter to Taunton’ and we’re sure will be a staple of families Christmas stockings this year throughout the county.
